Asgard-COVID

Because of Covid-19, all of our projects got postponed: Asgard-X (Asgard-COVID) will now take place in September 2020 and Svalbard 2020 (Svalbard 2021) in August 2021. Hemera got pushed back indefinitely. Of course this isn’t what we had hoped for, but there is a silver lining: we now have some extra time to catch up on the delay caused by the pandemic.

Update end of July

The past few weeks, we have been working hard on telemetry. On Friday, July 24th, we successfully tested APRS in Gruitrode. On Monday, July 27th, we successfully transmitted and received RTTY from As to Beringen: a distance of 23 km.

We’re aiming for RTTY and APRS to work perfectly on the launch of Asgard-COVID, on September 23rd, so we will be finetuning them the following weeks. We’re also working on Iridium (for Svalbard 2021).

Update end of August

In August, we focused on Iridium. On Friday, August 21st, we successfully tested Iridium in Dilsen-Stokkem. Getting started on Iridium went quicker than we had planned, so we will also be able to send Iridium with the High Altitude Balloon during Asgard-COVID.
